As a German living in Michigan I sometimes feel a bit homesick. Since I do not like beer or Sauerkraut, I had to fall in love with something else that is typically German and that reminds me of home: the garden gnome. Gnomes slip into some of my designs and welcome visitors at my front door. They are known to be hard-working, but also fun! Those are personality traits I can identify with.
